Not only does he have excellent Highland conformation, but his gentle temperament also makes him a delight to work with. Edmond’s willingness to voluntarily come into halter training at such a young age is a testament to his intelligence and trainability.
However, our decision not to choose Edmond as our keeper calf this year has nothing to do with any faults or deficiencies on his part. It is simply because his sire, Big Fergus, is still a young bull and doesn’t need to be replace anytime soon. We want to ensure that our breeding program maintains a healthy and diverse genetic pool, and it would not be prudent to replace a young and promising bull like Fergus prematurely.
