About Us

mini highland cows is a premier equestrian and elegant estate in Great Falls. Our 150 acre estate is a part of the larger 1800 acre Carlson Family Farm that has been owned and farmed continuously by the same family for over two centuries. The farm was part of a land deed granted to my Fathers from the King of England on sheepskin in the 1600’s and then granted to the Johnson Family. We are also a premier equestrian highland breeding, boarding and training facility, offering high quality Miniature Highland cows for sale from weanlings to trained Highlands. We also host dressage shows and clinics with international trainers.

Multifunctional

Our ranch is nestled in the beautiful Sandhills of the Great Falls. Our cattle enjoy miles and miles of luscious grass, blue skies, and open range while still interacting with us daily. Whether it’s putting out salt and mineral, checking their water, or spoiling them with cattle cake, these animals are our way of life.

  • It all started back in 2011 when I retired from the US Army. I served in the US Army for 9 years and within my 9 years of service, I was deployed to Iraq twice and to Afghanistan 4 times. I was a Combat Medic in the Army. After I retired from the military, I dedicated my time and energy to continue breeding this Mini Highland Cattle, because it has always been my dream and hobby since when I was a kid. My family owned a ranch in El Paso, Texas before my Dad passed away and everyone else became super busy building their own lives. So after my retirement 8 years ago, I decided to start my own farm in remembrance of my late father. What I started as a hobby has gradually blossomed into a full-time family endeavor as I added more Mini Highland Sires and Dams. Currently, I have children and grand-children who help to raise, train, and care for these cows and calves on daily basis. We are very concerned about the “type of homes” our calves will be going to as they are our major concern. Breeding these amazing calves is not just for the profit, as we refuse to give our calves out to middle men (brokers) or unskilled families. Our calves are meant to go to great families willing to share their space and hearts with our babies and we find so much joy in reading the testimonial of all satisfied clients. Knowing our clients are satisfied that our calves meets or exceeded their expectations is ecstatic, a feeling we can only describe as fulfillment, as our client satisfaction is second only to breeding healthy calves on our list of priorities. My Mini Highland Cows taught me about everything a Mini Highland should be outgoing, enthusiastic, keen and always live in the moment but above all and most importantly, loving and loyal to the owner. I can say they are the best companions I’ve ever known when it comes to pet cows.
